- Q: What is Pix-R-Me?
- A: Pix-R-Me is a photography service for Schools and Preschools. We take pictures of the children in their daily activities. The vision behind Pix-R-Me photography is to take photos for the parents. Photos that the parents wish they had taken themselves, if only they could, with a professional photographer’s eye and a parent’s heart and to serve as a window to the child’s life in school.
- Q: Who is Pix-R-Me?
- A: Pix-R-Me was founded in 2008 by Udi Edni, a veteran visual effects artist, photographer and passionate dad to Roni and Oliver who believes that no amount of great pictures of your children is ever too much.
- Q: What is SmugMug?
- A: SmugMug is an order fulfillment service that Pix-R-Me uses. Pix-R-Me provides the photos and SmugMug fulfills the orders, whether it's prints, merchandise, credit cards billing and shipping. (That is why Pix-R-Me can't always change an order once submitted to SmugMug).
- Q: I'm having problems buying from the album, it's not keeping item in my shopping cart?
- A: This is a common issue with browser cookies, please look in - http://www.smugmug.com/help/cookies
- Q: Will I still see Pix-R-Me watermark on my prints or downloads?
- A: No.
- Q: What are the shipping charges?
- A: 6-10 Business Day shipping is available for small orders of prints up to 5x7 in size. It's a flat rate of $2.95 for up to 50 prints. For more detailed shipping charges click here.
- Q: Can I buy the digital version?
- A: Yes. You can buy: Prints, Merchandise or Downloads. 'Digital Version Packages' are fulfilled by Pix-R-Me with payment by Amazon.
- Q: Digital downloads - What's the different between 'Low-Res', 'High Res' and an 'Original' Download?
- A: Low-Res is up to 1MPix (Mega Pixel) - jpeg image, the size of roughly 1200x800 pixels, 72 Pixels/Inch.
This will be good enough for sending to family on emails, for screen savers and for small print sizes, 4X6 or 5X7.
High-Res is 4 times bigger than Low-Res. Up to 4 MPix jpeg file, the size is roughly 1600x2400.
Original is 4 times bigger than High-Res (or 8 times bigger than Low-Res), Up to 8 Mpix, the size of roughly 2400x3600 pixels, 72 Pixels/Inch This will be good for all larger size prints, up to 30X40 inches.
Note: In 95% of the time I shoot Raw images, a 12-21 Mb file size .CR2 and all other versions are made from this master. The number of mega pixels has nothing to do with the image quality, only with the size of the print. The camera lens and sensor will define the quality. (given the same settings). - Q: Do I have to use only SmugMug for printing your photo?
- A: No. Once you have purchased a 'Digital Version', you can print it anywhere you want. However, you are more likely to have better print results if you are ordering the print through SmugMug.
Two things to remember when ordering prints elsewhere:
First, Low-Res(1Mpix) is good for 4X6, or 5X7 prints; anything bigger, a Hi-Res(4Mpix) download is recommended.
Second, every print service is different and your equipment needs to be calibrated for that specific service for optimal results. My equipment is calibrated to Smugmug’s print service and therefore I experience very good results of color accuracy and image quality when ordering prints directly from the site. - Q: After I buy a 'Digital Version', are the photos really mine?
- A: Yes, but only for 'Personal Licenses', here is what it means:
- Photographer grants buyer a non-exclusive perpetual personal-use license to download and copy the accompanying image, subject to the following restrictions:
- This license is for personal use only. Personal use means non-commercial use of the image(s) for display on personal web sites and computers, or making prints for personal use. The image(s) may not be used in any way whatsoever in which you charge money, collect fees, or receive any form of remuneration. The image(s) may not be used in advertising. The image(s) may not be resold, re licensed, or sub-licensed.
- Title and ownership, and all rights now and in the future, of and for the image(s) remain exclusively with the photographer.
- There are no warranties, express or implied. The image(s) are provided "as is."
- Neither Pix-R-Me nor SmugMug will be liable for any third party claims or incidental, consequential or other damages arising out of this license or buyer's use of the image(s).
- Q: What is Lustre print finish?
- A: In addition to glossy and matte prints SmugMug also offers 'Lustre' finish. Lustre prints offer the best of both worlds: The color saturation of glossy, the fingerprint resistance of matte and without the glare associated with glossy prints. It is also 0.71 Mils thicker than glossy and matte.
- Q: What if I'm not happy with my prints?
- A: Pix-R-Me has had great results using SmugMug and if you are not happy with your print SmugMug will reprint or refund your order, whichever you prefer, but you must choose 'Auto Color' option when ordering prints. If you are not happy with the print, simply send an email to help@smugmug.com within 30 days of your order.
